Step 1

Installation & Registration

Install our Config File. The Lab's "Config File" is the lab's "Catalogue" of products and services you can order from our Lab.

For future reference, the Config Files Folder (Product Catalogs) is located in: C:/Presentation/Programs/Presentation Gold 7/Config Files

Please read the following instructions, then install your new V7 Presentation Gold software. The program now installs in the C/Drive, NOT in the Program Files

Please move your images to a folder close to the root of your drive. Do not store images in "My Documents, MY Pictures", or on the on the desktop. Put them in C:/ (or whatever drive you are using) Images/Weddings, Or C:Portraits for example.

1- Click File/Open Images. Images must be on your computer, not on a CD.
2- Select an image in the thumbnail bar.
3- Select a size from the list on the right side. Click the size button to add quantities, or use the dropdown.
4- Click the "Order" button at the top of the size/quantities column.
5- The "Order Name" screen will appear. Enter a name for your order. The "Description" box is not a required field.
6- Go to the Crop Screen. Click the "Crop Squares" icon on the tool bar to go to the crop screen.
 

7- Crop your images. Hold the "Shift Key", and move your mouse to adjust the crop box. When you have it the way you like it, let go of the mouse button, click the "Space Bar" on your keyboard, or "Double Click" the image and it will crop. Click the Space Bar again or Double Click the image and the crop will go away.

You can't make any mistakes. The program will only allow you to crop the images in the correct aspect ratio as the size of the print ordered. You cannot crop an 11x14 with an 8x10 crop. FOOLPROOF

Order first, then crop

8- Click the "Process Orders and Images" icon.

9- Click the "Process Order" Button.

10- Click the FTP icon.

11- Your order will appear in the screen. Select the order, Click "Add the Selected Order"
12- When the connection is complete- click "Upload"

Your order is on it's way to your lab.

Note: Images can only be saved in sRGB format.

You are ready to install your program

We suggest you Open or Run the installation package. Past experience has shown us that people who "save" the downloads have problems finding them in their computers. The next time they install our program they inadvertently open the older download.

Best method- "Open/Run", not save.

The major change is in the Template Toolbox and the Album Designer

The Album Pages can now display Drop Shadows on the image openings (nodes) and allow you to have an image in the background. Before the major improvement, you could create, or use the templates we supplied that were made in Photoshop, but did not allow background images.

You can create your own drop shadows, or use the ones we created. We think the ones we created work quite nicely, you will decide when you see them.

You can create a drop shadow, or again use ours, and add the effect to one or all openings in your template. You can also change these effects when actually in the Album Designer side.

There have been a few screen/icon changes. Since we created V7 over 7 months ago, and have been making improvements constantly, we suggest you just poke around the program to see what has changed.

Changes in Operation

Uploading images- If you have a small event  and would like to upload it quickly, you can just open the Gallery Toolbox, select the image folder, transfer the images to the right side of the transfer box, and proceed with your usual event uploading procedures. You can also upload images in folders, that you may have categorized in another program. Try it, see how it works.

Receiving Orders from your Gallery- We now drop the new orders in the standard "Order" folder, instead of a "Web Order folder". When you see a message that you have an order, open the "Order folder", and you will se your new orders now say "Web_Order_ (and the order details).

New features...

1. We know have a "Full Screen Image" available for your clients to view. While we work on our new accounting/payment plan, the option is free. Later you will be able to select which categories you want to display the large image. the cost will be a flat $.02 per image as long as the event is online.

2. The entire Upload toolbox has been rebuilt. Click the tabs and review the icons. run your mouse over an icon to see what it will do.

a. change event names
b. change prices in an event already online
c. config files are now called "Product Catalogs"
d. on the upload screen you can simply check the boxes to:

     - "Hide an Event" (password protect).
     -change the ordering to eXpress Order (total order fulfillment thru your lab).
     -upload images as album pages when you made the pages in Photoshop or another program.

NOW- you can "Time Out" an event. Set an expiration date and when it is reached, a message will appear when customers go to that event, it tells them to contact you to see the images again. You can reset it at anytime.

You can upload an event with a discounted price group for any selected period, then change the prices and release it again.

3. Deletion of events is now almost-"instantaneous". A 1000 image event  is deleted in 15 seconds!!!

4. Shipping charges are now settable by "EVENT", not for the entire Gallery. You can also set shipping options, such as pickup, delivery, calling to make payment arrangements. All of these options are settable through the upload toolbox, you don't have to go online to change them.

Coming...Favorites Folders, discounts applicable by dates...and other helpful options to increase sales and improve your workflow.

System Requirements

There are no specific System Requirements to use Presentation Gold

We do suggest you use an XP Operating System, or Windows 2000.

The program will run on a Vista computer, but we feel that Vista is not yet very easy to manage.

The program will no longer run in Win98 OS.

The operating "speed" and memory capacity in your computer will not effect any functions in Presentation Gold. These speed and capacity factors will only effect the "speed" at which you can operate Presentation Gold.

Any new computer you buy today, right off the shelf, will work very well.
